UTAR POETRY FESTIVAL is coming soon!!!!

Institute of Chinese Studies is going to organize an event entitled “Chuan Shi” from 17th to
20th June 2012 with the celebration of 10 years anniversary of Chinese Department in

Kampar campus.

The title “Chuan Shi” is inspired from the Poetry Hotel in the Wilderness (Wild Store)

written by Cheng Chou-yu, the Contemporary Poet: “Who passes down the career of poet?

A light was hung up at dusk…” We specially invite a batch of famous local poets and

cultural intellectuals to UTAR performing “UTAR Dong Di Yin” Chinese Poetry Recital and

Musical. The performance combines singing, dancing and poetry reading. Hence, “UTAR

Dong Di Yin” is the Prelude, as well as an important activity of the “Poetry Festival”.

There would be a talk on 18th and 19th June respectively. The talk entitles “Romance of

Metaphor” by Luo Zhi Qiang on 18th June and “Interpretation of cross-border” by Mr Kuan

Chee Wah and Ms Law Yee Wan on 19th. On the ceremony on 20th June, we are honored

to have the opportunity to invite Dr Wong Yoon Wah, a well-known scholar as well as a

poet, to our college to give a keynote speech, sharing his view about the aesthetic of poetry

writing. On the same day, we will have a new books launching ceremony.
